While actor Vijay has already been roped in to play the lead role, it has been heard that the first choice of the female lead was Katrina Kaif.

Also with her doing big banner Hindi films, her priority will be Hindi films for the time being, although she would like to try different things and keep her options open.

Katrina Kaif Will Be Playing Madhubala

After playing a quasi-biographical character in Raajneeti, Katrina Kaif is set to play a real-life character – Madhubala. Katrina will reprise the legendary actress’ role in the Kishore Kumar biopic to be directed by Anurag Basu. Katrina was finalised for the project after she opted out of Basu’s other film, Silence, in which she was to co-star with Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor.

A source says, “Katrina couldn’t do two back-to-back projects with Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor. So she picked the biopic on Kishore Kumar in which she will play Madhubala.”

While she was considering her option back then. Katrina had said, “If I do another film with Ranbir, I’d want it to be a full-fledged commercial love story.” And it can’t get any more mainstream and romantic than the Kishore Kumar-Madhubala saga.

In fact, the actress has already begun doing her homework for the role and watched Mughal-e-Azam, Mahal and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi.

While Katrina chose not to reply, Anurag says guardedly, “I think it’s a little early to talk about it. I still haven’t got the principal cast of my current project, Silence, in place. But yes, Katrina is someone I am very, very fond of…for her looks, talent and nature.

I am definitely working with her, if not in Silence, then in my next film.” One of the song sequences from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi that Anurag Basu’s film will be looking to recreate is the Kishore-Madhubala song Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si.

Katrina Kaif Loves To Maintain Her Exclusive Stance

How to retain as star take an insight from Katrina Kaif who suggests keeping concealed certain parts of her life instead of letting out open to the public to retain one’s exclusivity from crowds, denies favor of social networking sites.

What’s the point in familiarizing with every details of star’s life to the public, Katrina questions, “Aren't stars supposed to be exclusive?

Whereas other stars are taking for higher pace with twitter networking sites to popularize themselves with public, Katrina retains to be exclusive without sharing much information fearing it might spoil people’s taste about their hero in the long run.

May be she has taken an insight from co-star Ranbir Kapoor who had recently stated that he is quite confused about twitter addiction in current generation and had currently stopped frequent usages of it.

Taking on to a same note Katrina sighted, "I don't understand this. Should they be so accessible that everything in their life should be out in the open? From what they eat to what they drink to what they wear… I can't bring myself to this.”

Twitter usages does not make any sense to stars as their exclusiveness will wear off if are familiarized too much, what Katrina feels and states, “That's the reason why I am not on Facebook or Twitter. Why would people spend money to watch stars on screen, when anyone and everyone could connect with them so easily?"

Katrina feels it's important to draw a line and not to get too personal but then distances can kill one’s appetite.

Katrina Kaif and Shammi Kapoor's divide

Katrina Kaif is not on Twitter and Shammi Kapoor yahoos on it. So does that mean they won't ever meet over a cuppa, like Shammi and Deepika Padukone did recently?

No they could, because Katrina is ready to swing buy anytime Shammi Kapoor wants his caffeine fix. She may not be on twitter but lives in a cellular world!

However, we don't believe Shammi Kapoor ever evinced interest in meeting Katrina. Certainly not over his Twitter account, which we, like all good out of idea journalists, monitor.

If you think we are blabbering, here is the last blabber.

Katrina says she will never be on Twitter, because she values her privacy. She almost makes it sound as if Twitter is a bird that will follow her around, even into the wash room, and keep tweeting what it is seeing.

Before you start visualizing the scene and completely lose the thread watch the video below to understand what we are talking about.
